New Delhi: Bangladesh have announced their Test squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against India, starting from September 19. Najmul Shanto will lead the team after the historic Test series win against Pakistan.
The Bangla Tigers will play the first Test in Chennai and the second match in Kanpur from September 27. The Men in Blue have already announced their squad for the first Test. Virat Kohli returned to the side after missing the home Test series against England and Rishabh Pant also returned to the Test side after more than 20 months.
Rohit Sharma and Co. are currently at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 table while Bangladesh is at the fourth position after the series win against Pakistan. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will lead the pace attack while Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav are the four spinners in the squad.
Bangladesh have made one change to their Test squad from the Pakistan tour. Jaker Ali replaced injured fast bowler Shoriful Islam in the team. The Tigers defeated Pakistan by 2-0 in Rawalpindi and recorded their first-ever Test series win in Pakistan.
Team India hosted Bangladesh in the 2019-20 season where they defeated the visitors by 2-0 in the Test series. Bangladesh will also play three T20Is in Gwalior, Delhi and Hyderabad after the Test series.
Bangladesh have started training for the India Test series in Mirpur and all members of the Test squad, apart from Shakib al Hasan are part of the training camp. The squad is expected to arrive in India on September 15, four days ahead of the 1st Test. All-rounder Shakib al Hasan is playing for Surrey in the County Championship and will directly arrive in India from England.
