New Delhi: Indian Banks will remain close on June 22, 2024 (Saturday). Being, the 4th Saturday of the month, all the bank branches shall not open on June 22, 2024. As a result bank customers will not be able to withdraw or deposit cash in their accounts by visiting nearest branch. However, other banking services like atm withdrawal, net banking and upi related transaction shall remain operative. Prior to visiting a bank branch, customers should verify its operational status for that particular Saturday.
Why is fourth Saturday a holiday?
June 22 is a bank holiday as it falls on the fourth Saturday of the month. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) designates specific holidays in accordance with the Negotiable Instruments Act, including Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) holidays and Banks’ Closing of Accounts. According to the RBI holiday schedule, all private and public sector banks remain closed on national holidays, state-specific regional holidays, and on the second and fourth Saturdays, along with Sundays. The first, third, and fifth Saturdays are considered working Saturdays for banks.
What banking services are available on bank holidays?
Customers can perform numerous financial and non-financial transactions using mobile banking and net banking services even on bank holidays. Transactions such as fund transfers via RTGS, NEFT, IMPS, among others, can be initiated.
Furthermore, cash withdrawals from ATMs are possible if banks are closed. Additionally, bills for utilities like gas, electricity, and other services can be paid using one’s bank account, even when banks are closed.
