New Delhi: Bank branches are not closed on Saturday, January 4, 2025, since it is the first Saturday of the month, according to RBI rules. The Reserve Bank of India has laid down that banks branches will remain closed on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month apart from all Sundays.

Bank holidays in January 2025

The Reserve Bank of India has given a holiday list for January 2025. Banks will be closed on January 6, 2025 on the occasion on Sri Guru Gobind Singh’s birthday in Chandigarh. Aizawl and Impahl will observe bank holidays on January 11, 2025, to commemorate Missionary Day or Imoinu Iratpa. January 14, 2025, will be observed as a holiday for Makar Sankranti/ Uttarayana Punyakala and Pongal, among other harvest festivals across India.

January 15, 2025, is Thiruvalluvar Day and banks will remain closed in Chennai on this occasion. Banks in the capital of Tamil Nadu will also remain closed on January 16, 2025, for Uzhavar Thirunal. January 23, 2025, will be celebrated as Vir Surendrasai Jayanti and the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Banks in Agartala, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata will remain closed on this occasion.

How to carry out transactions on bank holidays

While bank branches will remain closed on holidays in the RBI calendar, customers can use services such as banking online, on the app or via WhatsApp. ATM transactions will also remain in operation on these dates.

Banks will remain closed on January 11 and 25, 2025, since these are the second and 4th Saturdays of the month. Banks will also remain closed on January 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2025, since these are 4 Sundays of the month.
