New Delhi: Banks will remain closed on September 4, 2024, in Assam on the occasion of Srimanta Sankardev Tirubhav Tithi, according to RBI’s list of official holidays. Overall, banks will remain closed for 16 days in September 2024 across all states and UTs, according to the RBI’s monthly holiday calendar.

Banks will remain closed in Assam on September 4, 2024, to commemorate the death anniversary of Srimanta Sankardev who was a 15th century saint and scholar who also contributed to India’s rich cultural tradition in the form of poetry, music and art. He was also a social and religious reformer. As part of the Bhakti movement, he started a new religious stream known as Mahapurushiya Dharma in Assam, according to the website Barpetashastra.
