New Delhi: Banks will remain closed for the next three days across several states in view of Fourth Saturday, Sunday, Maharashtra Bandh and Janmashtami. Though banks will observe a holiday during this period, customers can use internet banking and ATM services like normal days.
The three-day bank holiday will include weekly and fourth Saturdays. The banks will remain closed on 24th August due to the fourth Saturday and all banks across the country will remain closed 25th August, which is a Sunday. Banks will also observe a holiday on August 26 (Monday) on the occasion of Janmashtami.
Banks to remain closed in these cities on August 26 (Monday): Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Hyderabad – Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad – Telangana, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kplkata, Lucknow, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, and Srinagar.
Bank Holiday August 24 (Saturday): As it is the fourth Saturday of the month, the banks will remain closed tomorrow.
Bank Holiday August 25: Banks across the country will observe a holiday as it is a Sunday.
Bank customers take note: On bank holidays, you can send money to someone’s bank account via Internet banking. You can also withdraw money from ATM machines. The banks also allow people to open FD accounts online. However, for depositing cash or draft, an individual will have to wait for the bank to open.
Maharashtra Bandh
The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has given ‘Maharashtra Bandh’ call for August 24 to protest against the alleged sexual assault of two young girls at a Badlapur school in Thane district. As August 24 is fourth Saturday, banks will remain closed. Meanwhile, the schools and colleges are likely to remain closed.
