BCCI adds another series to India’s jam-packed cricket schedule in 2024

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has added another series to an already jam-packed schedule of the Indian cricket team in 2024. A day after announcing a crammed schedule for Team India’s 2024-25 home season, the Indian cricket board has squeezed in an away series.

India will host Bangladesh in a two-match Test series followed by a three-match T20I series. The hosts will then take on New Zealand in a three-match Test series.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) and BCCI announced a four-match T20I series in November. The Men in Blue will tour the Rainbow Nation for the short series.

“I would like to thank the BCCI for their continued support to South Africa’s cricket, and world cricket in general,” CSA chairperson Lawson Naidoo said in the statement.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah added: “India and South Africa have always shared a deep and strong bond, one that both nations take great pride in. The Indian Cricket Team has consistently received immense appreciation and love from South African fans, and this sentiment is equally strong among Indian fans towards the South African side.

“I am confident that the upcoming series will once again highlight the on-field cricketing excellence and deliver enthralling, high-intensity contests.”

Team India’s 2024-25 schedule

The Indian Cricket Board, on Thursday, announced a packed home calendar for the 2024-25 home season. India will open the home season with a two-Test series against Bangladesh in September before hosting New Zealand in a three-match affair in October.

India’s T20I tour to South Africa is sandwiched between their home Test series against New Zealand and the Australia tour.

Before locking horns with the Kiwis in the red-ball series, India will take on Bangladesh in a three-T20I series beginning on October 6. After playing five Tests and three T20Is at home, India will travel to South Africa for the T20I series and then head Down Under to take on Australia in the five-match Test series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

After the Australia series, India will welcome England for a white-ball series, comprising five T20Is and three ODIs, in January 2025.
