“16 years ago today, a 19-year-old @imVkohli stepped onto the international stage for the first time, marking the beginning of what has become a truly legendary career. Congratulations to the King on completing 16 years in international cricket!” Jay Shah posted on his official X account.
Kohli made his international debut against Sri Lanka on August 18, 2008. He recently contributed to India’s second T20 World Cup triumph and became the second player to win all three ICC white-ball trophies after MS Dhoni.
Kohli led India to U19 World Cup victory, just a few months before making his international debut. He scored 235 runs at an average of 27 in the tournament.
He improved his batting and evolved as India’s most consistent batter. His brilliant performance across formats earned him a spot in the modern-day ‘Fab Four’ alongside Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Joe Root.
