New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took a cue from the NBA and NFL in presenting the members of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 winning squad with special customised ‘champions’ rings. The rings were presented to the players during the BCCI Naman Awards ceremony that took place in Mumbai on February 01.

Several members of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 winning squad were present at the BCCI Naman Awards last week, including former T20I skipper Rohit Sharma and star all-rounder Hardik Pandya. The awards were also graced by some of the legends of Indian cricket like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri among others.

While the players received the ‘champions’ rings during the awards ceremony, it was only on Friday, February 07 that the BCCI released a video to give a full view of the ring. The rings presented to the players were customised with their names and their jersey numbers. The rings made of gold and studded with diamonds also have the Ashoka chakra engraved on top along with the contributions made by each player during India’s successful T20 World Cup 2024 campaign.

“Diamonds may be forever, but this win certainly is immortalised in a billion hearts. These memories will ‘Ring’ loud and live with us forever,” BCCI captioned the video on their X handle. The likes of Rohit, Hardik, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Yashavsi Jaiswal, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh and Sanju Samson were presented with their rings during the awards ceremony.

India became 1st team to win the T20 World Cup unbeaten

India enjoyed a phenomenal campaign during the T20 World Cup 2024 as they became the first team to win the tournament unbeaten. India defeated South Africa by 7 runs in a thrilling final to lift their second T20 World Cup trophy, bringing an end to their 11-year-long ICC trophy drought. The likes of Rohit, Hardik, Bumrah and Arshdeep played a crucial role in India’s title triumph in the tournament that was played in the US and the Caribbean.
