New Delhi: Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan was hilariously trolled on social media for his slow knock as Pakistan suffered an 11-run defeat in the 1st T20I against South Africa in Durban after failing to chase down the target of 184 runs in 20 overs. Despite Rizwan’s half-century, Pakistan fell short in the chase by a close margin.
Left-arm spinner George Linde turned out to be the hero for the Proteas as he picked up a four-wicket haul to help South Africa restrict Pakistan to 172/8 in 20 overs. Linde dismissed Usman Khan cheaply on 9 before running through Pakistan’s lower middle order to set up a convincing win for the Proteas despite Rizwan’s resistance from the other end.
Opening the innings with star batter Babar Azam, skipper Rizwan scored 74 runs off 62 balls. However, his efforts were not enough to take the team over the line in the tricky chase in Durban. Rizwan was heavily criticised on social media for his inability to up the ante despite the required running rate going up as he completed his half-century off 50 balls – the slowest fifty by any captain in T20Is.
Rizwan did try to catch up in the end but failed to do so as he could only manage 74 off 62 with the help of 5 fours and 3 sixes. The likes of Babar Azam (0), Usman Khan (9) and Tayyab Tahir (18) too failed to deliver as Pakistan fell short in the chase to hand South Africa a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Mohammad Rizwan trolled for slow knock against South Africa:
Don’t let 74 off 62 balls fool you, this match was lost by Rizwan & no one else, he was 46 off 49 balls, scored 28 off last 13 balls when the game was almost lost, most batters lost their wickets because of Rizwan’s selfishness, criminal innings

A 180 run chase and shameless Rizwan batting at a strike rate of 70 while youngsters trying to force and getting out in pursuit, how do these people look in the mirror honestly!
Should be kicked away but they made him a skipper ffs 😂😂

I can’t believe how Pakistan cricket tolerates Rizwan in T20Is. Their cricket board deserves 2% extra share in ICC revenues for giving other teams an advantage.

Hate him all you want to but Rizwan has been the best player for South Africa today.

Rizwan probably is the worst batter to see in t20s

George Linde delivers career-best T20 performance for South Africa
Linde delivered a brilliant all-round performance, his career-best in T20Is to help South Africa beat Pakistan in the series opener in Durban. After missing the team bus, Linde made up for it with a cracking 24-ball 48 to power his team to a strong total of 183 runs before picking up 4 wickets with the ball to secure an easy victory for the Proteas.
Miller also starred with the bat for South Africa as he smashed a stunning knock of 82 runs off just 40 balls studded with 8 sixes and 4 fours. Miller and Linde were the top two scorers for the Proteas in the game and combined to take past the 180-run mark after a top-order collapse.
