BGT 2024 India Squad: Captain, Batsmen, Bowlers, All-Rounder, Coach and Others

New Delhi: Team India is all in readiness to lock horns with Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy that begins on November 22, Friday, with the first Test scheduled in Perth. The series will run for five Tests which will be played across Australia starting from Perth and will be followed by Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney. The second Test in Adelaide will be a day-night game played with a pink ball.

The caravan will move to Brisbane for the third Test. The Melbourne game, as usual, will be a Boxing Day Test and will start on the day after Christmas, as per the tradition. The final Test will be played between January 3 and 7 and the series will finally conclude. While Australia had only announced their squad for the first Test, India named a strong 18-member squad to take on the Aussies in the BGT and only recently added Devdutt Padikkal to the squad, making it a 19-man team.

The Indian selectors led by chief Ajit Agarkar, very carefully, handpicked these 19 players which makes the India squad quite varied in terms of all the three departments – batters, bowlers, and all-rounders. When the squad was out, Rohit Sharma was named as the skipper and Jasprit Bumrah was named his deputy. Now that Rohit is out of the first Test, Jasprit Bumrah is named the skipper for the Perth Test.

Here’s a detailed look at India’s BGT squad –

Captain – Rohit Sharma; Jasprit Bumrah (only for 1st Test)

Batters – Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Shubman Gill, Sarfaraz Khan, and Devdutt Padikkal.

All-Rounders – Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar.

Wicket-keepers – KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Dhruv Jurel.

Coaching staff – Gautam Gambhir (head coach), Abhishek Nayar (assistant coach), Ryan ten Doeschate (assistant coach), T Dilip (fielding coach), and Morne Morkel (bowling coach).
