New Delhi: Indian all-rounder Nitish Reddy smashed his maiden international century in the fourth Test match against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Saturday, December 28. Reddy has chipped in with crucial knocks for the Men in Blue throughout the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
He scored 41 and an unbeaten 38 in the first Test in Perth while in Adelaide Test which India lost by 10 wickets, he scored 42 each in both innings of the Test. In the third Test, Nitish got out after scoring 16 runs.
In the Boxing Day Test, Nitish came to bat when India were struggling at 191/6. He forged a 127-run partnership with Washington Sundar for the eighth wicket and helped his team to get out of the troubling position. He scored his maiden century in 171 balls and celebrated it in style in front of a packed MCG crowd. His father was in tears when Nitish notched up his hundred with a boundary.

Sundar, Reddy partnership put India in comfortable position
The Men in Blue are trailing by 116 runs but bad light stopped the match in Melbourne after 116 overs on Day 3. Pant and Jadeja resumed the batting for India on Day 3. Pant lost his wicket on 28 runs while playing a ramp shot against Scott Boland. He only managed to get a top edge of the bat and Nathan Lyon took a good catch at deep third man.
After his dismissal, Nathan Lyon removed Jadeja on 17 runs. Earlier on Day 2, India got off to a poor start as Pat Cummins removed Rohit Sharma cheaply who tried to pull the short ball but only managed to get a top edge of the bat. Cummins took his second wicket of the match and dismissed KL Rahul on 24 runs.
After two early wickets, Yashasvi Jaiswal along with Kohli stitched a 102-run partnership. A terrible mix-up between both batters ended Jaiswal’s knock who scored 82 runs off 118 balls. Boland removed Kohli on 36 runs to put the visitors under more pressure. But after Pant and Jadeja’s wicket on Day 3, Nitish Reddy and Washington Sundar’s century stand put India in a comfortable position on Day 3.
