New Delhi: Seasoned pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar on Wednesday etched his name in the history books by registering a monumental milestone in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Bhuvneshwar equalled the long-standing record of Dwayne Bravo for most wickets taken by a pacer in the history of the cash-rich league.

The Indian pacer registered the milestone during the clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans on Wednesday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in IPL 2025. Bhuvneshwar reached the massive feat by dismissing the Titans’ skipper Shubman Gill in the fifth over of their innings. This marked his 183rd wicket in the cash-rich league, bringing him on level with Bravo’s record. Bhuvneshwar bowled a deceptive ball that forced Gill to go for a big hit.

The Gujarat skipper ended up mistime the delivery with Liam Livingstone taking a clean catch at mid-off. Out of the three matches RCB have played till now, Bhuvneshwar has been part of two claiming a wicket in each of the fixtures. The pacer has been a prolific wicket-taker in the cash-rich league and with his superb adaptability and skills, he has proved to be a vital cog for his franchise. Bhuvneshwar joined RCB this season for a whopping amount of Rs 10.75 crore in the auction.

RCB handed first loss

This was RCB’s first loss in the competition after two strong victories. Batting first, Royal Challengers posted a competitive total of 169/8 in the stipulated 20 overs with Liam Livingstone top-scoring with 54 runs while Jitesh Sharma and Tim David contributing 33 and 32 runs respectively. Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the bowlers for Bengaluru with 3 wickets.

Meanwhile, the chase seemed to be a cakewalk for Gujarat as they reached the target in 17.5 overs. Jos Buttler top-scored with an unbeaten knock of 73 while Sai Sudharsan was the next best scorer with 49 runs. Sherfane Rutherford contributed 30 runs towards the end.
