New Delhi: Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar shared an emotional farewell message for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on social media after being bought by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for Rs 10.75 crore in IPL 2025 mega auction. He secured a 156% salary increase from his previous contract.
Bhuvneshwar joined SRH in 2014 and played a key role in their 2016 IPL title victory. He expressed gratitude towards the fans and franchise and thanked them for their unwavering support throughout his 11-year tenure. He is one of the most effective bowlers in the powerplay and has delivered many match-winning performances.
Bhuvneshwar has played 176 matches in the IPL and has picked up 181 wickets. He was retained by SRH for Rs 4.2 crore during the IPL 2022 auction but multiple franchises bid for his services in the 2025 mega auction which saw a big hike in his salary.
Bhuvneshwar shared a video on X and wrote “After 11 incredible years with SRH, I say goodbye to this team. I have so many unforgettable and cherishable memories. One thing unmissable is the love of the fans, which has been splendid! Your support has been constant…I will carry this love and support with me forever”.

Bidding war Bhuvneshwar Kumar in IPL mega auction
On day 2 of the mega auction, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) started a bidding war for Bhuvneshwar. His base price was Rs 2 crore and both franchises raised the bid for fast bowler. The offers quickly breached the Rs 10 crore mark before MI opted out at Rs 10.25 crore. Just when LSG seemed in prime position to secure Bhuvneshwar for Rs 10.5 crore, RCB entered the race with a bid of Rs 10.75 crore and ultimately secured his services for IPL 2025.
