Big Boost to India’s startup ecosystem: Piyush Goyal launches BHASKAR portal

New Delhi: Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal launched Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry (BHASKAR) website on Tuesday. It will act as a one-stop digital platform for the entire startup ecosystem and serve as a central hub where startups, service providers, investors, and government agencies can come together and interact with each other.

“Let’s make this a one-stop shop for all data dissemination for engagement and interaction, one-stop shop for the entire ecosystem through simple and easy-to-use links, and easy to navigate,” Goyal said.

The government aims to make the BHASKAR platform the world’s largest digital registry for stakeholders within the startup ecosystem.

“BHASKAR meaning ‘Rising Sun’ has been aptly chosen to be the name of the digital platform. With the sun comes enlightenment, light, growth and BHASKAR will help in collaboration, cooperation and also enable competition among each other,” the UNion minister added.

BHASKAR features

The platform will help in networking and collaboration and support India’s global brand.
BHASKAR will enable startups, investors, and other stakeholders, to easily collaborate and exchange ideas.
Every stakeholder will be provided with a unique BHASKAR ID.
BHASKAR platform will be equipped with advanced search features so that the stakeholders can easily locate relevant resources.
BHASKAR platform will help in industry alliances, result in dynamic networking, ensure enhanced visibility and issue Personalised Identification Number

Goyal said his government is committed to promote the startup ecosystem and “will put in efforts to make the ecosystem socialised, democratic and visible to the world”.

“Technology and interconnectivity will help Indians build ‘Brand India’ as a tool to market our products and services across the world and help us change the image of India to the rest of the world,” Goyal said.

Meanwhile, Secretary DPIIT, Amardeep Singh Bhatia, praised the BHASKAR portal, saying it is a laudatory step by the government and will “cohesively propel the Indian startup ecosystem as the flag bearer amongst its peers across the globe”.
