New Delhi: Union IT and Railways minister Ashiwni Vaishnaw gave a positive response to a request from his colleague and Union minister for communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia, to develop Gwalior into an IT hub by accepting his request to open one of the planned 24 Centres for Entrepreneurship under the STPI division of the ministry for electronics and IT in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Scindia heads the erstwhile royal family of Gwalior and is the BJP MP from Guna constituency in MP.
In his letter to Vaihsnaw, Scindia wrote that Gwalior is an emerging IT/ITeS hub of India with over 20 engineering colleges. Scindia said that Gwalior already has an STPI centre, which provides the following services:
Incubation
Statutory
High speed data communication
If a Centre for Entrepreneurship in Emerging Technologies is established by STPI in Gwalior, youth of the region can be empowered, Scindia added. “I will try to arrange the requisite built up space for the proposed COE,” he said.
An STPI team will soon visit Gwalior to carry out inspections related to the centre. The centre is expected to spur entrepreneurship in Gwalior and spur the area’s startup culture, also becoming a catchment area for IT in the future.

Scindia had also written to the Centre to set up this corridor earlier as part of his broader vision to develop the entire Gwalior-Chambal division. He aims to make Gwalior the magnet City for Delhi in terms of factories, industries and trade.
Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia’s efforts to ensure the development of Gwalior into an IT hub have borne fruit with Union IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw agreeing to set up a Centre for Entrepreneurship in emerging technologies in Gwalior.
