New Delhi: The Miami police have released bodycam footage of officers forcefully dragging Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill from his car, throwing him to the ground and handcuffing him during a traffic stop. The 105 minutes of bodycam footage was released after the Miami Police Department opened an investigation into the incident.
The police said that one of the officers who was involved in the incident has been placed on administrative duties pending an investigation. Hill’s Miami Dolphins teammates, Calais Campbell and Jonnu Smith, were also involved in the incident.
The footage starts with an officer questioning Hill through his open car window for not wearing a seat belt. After a brief exchange, the bodycam footage shows the traffic stop escalating rapidly when Hill closes his car window after being told to keep it open.
“I am going to get you out of the car. As a matter of fact, get out of the car” an officer tells Hill, while the other threatens to break his car’s window.
After opening the car door, an officer drags Hill by the back of the head and neck before he is quickly restrained face down on the ground and handcuffed. One officer is seen putting a knee on his back and telling him to “stop crying.”
“I’ll tell you like this — your job is to serve and protect, right. You’re doing a horrible job of protecting right now. I’m just being a Black man, that’s it. I’m just being Black in America.” Hill said

Hill was detained while driving to Sunday’s home game between the Dolphins and the Jacksonville Jaguars at Hard Rock Stadium.
Hill played key role in Miami’s victory against Jacksonville
The police released both players shortly after the incident. Hill played an important role for the Dolphins and scored a touchdown. His team defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars by 20-17.
At the post-match press conference, Hill said that he did not know why he was stopped and handcuffed.
“I was just doing what my uncle always told me to do if I was in a situation like that, just listen, put your hands on the steering wheel. Gotta be careful, man” Hill said.
In a statement issued by South Florida Police Benevolent Association president Steadman Stahl said that the NFL star was not immediately cooperative with the officers on the scene.
