This German word is a combination of two words, ‘Bildung’ which means education and ‘roman’ which means novel. Hence, it denotes a novel of education which shines a light on the moral and psychological development of the protagonist from childhood to adulthood. It portrays the emotional evolution of a young character.
Cli-Fi
It sounds like Sci-Fi (Science Fiction) and it deals with climate change and global warming, the twin threats which have put the existence of the Earth in jeopardy. The story is set in the present or the future and will mix science fiction with dystopian themes spelling out the effects of climate change.
Cyberpunk
The story in this genre is set in a dystopian future with extremely advanced technology. Popularised by Bruce Bethke, this genre tells the story of characters who live in a technologically sophisticated and authoritarian social order.
Furry Sleuth
The books in this genre feature cats, mice, or dogs and sometimes a scaly dinosaur or a feathered chicken who act as the protagonist and also as the investigator. The setting of these stories are mainly small towns and the detective cat or dog has connections with the police.
Bitpunk
The books under this genre deal with the social and political themes of the ‘punk’ side of things and delve into the life of the characters or society and the beliefs they hold.
Nordic Noir
