Islamabad: The Pakistani government has decided to ban the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing the former ruling party of engaging in various anti-state activities. Khan, 71, has been lodged at the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on account of multiple cases against him.
Pakistan‘s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated, “The government has decided to initiate legal action to ban the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). We believe there is substantial evidence warranting the ban, based on allegations against the former Prime Minister.”
The government’s decision comes on the heels of relief given to the PTI by the Supreme Court in the reserved seats case as well as to Khan in the illegal marriage case.
