New Delhi: India all-rounder Axar Patel produced an excellent throw to hand his team a crucial breakthrough in their ongoing clash against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025. India and Pakistan locked horns in a much-anticipated clash in Dubai on Sunday, February 23. Pakistan got off to a cautious start after opting to bat first in the game but lost two wickets in quick succession as India pulled things back in style.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya drew the first blood for India by dismissing a well-set Babar Azam cheaply on 23 off 26 balls in the 9th over before Axar’s stunning throw saw Pakistan lose another wicket in the next over. It was brilliant work in the field from Axar, who showed great reflexes and precision to send Imam packing with a sharp throw on the non-striker’s end.
The dismissal took place on the 2nd ball of the 10th over when Imam pushed the delivery softly towards mid-on and tried to steal a single off Kuldeep Yadav. The ball went straight towards Axar, who was quick to grab it and pulled off a direct hit which caught the Pakistan opener short of the crease. Imam was running on the dangerous end and had to pay the price for his mistake.
