Can Kamala Harris Be Next President Despite Losing Election? Ex-Aide Suggests Way

Washington: A former communications director for Vice President Kamala Harris , Jamal Simmons, has sparked a heated debate by suggesting that President Joe Biden should resign and install Harris as the first female President of the United States, albeit for a short duration. Simmons made this suggestion during a Sunday talk show and reiterated it on social media, stating that Biden has been an amazing president but should fulfill his promise of being a transitional figure.

However, some political experts feel that the call for Joe Biden to step down to allow Kamala Harris to become the first female president of the US may not be ethically correct since Harris lost the popular vote.

Apart from former aide Jamal Simmons, some other Democrats are urging Biden to resign and make Harris the president. This comes after the party’s loss to Donald Trump in the recent presidential elections.

Harris supporters say that making her the president will save her from the embarrassment of certifying her rival’s victory. However, others argue that appointing Harris as the president would be ethically incorrect since she lost the popular vote.

According to the 25th amendment of the US Constitution, if a President is removed from his office, or he resigns or dies, then the Vice President will become the President. However, people are seeking opinions on whether Biden should resign and make Harris the first female president.

Most people rejected the idea of Biden allowing Kamala Harris to be POTUS, saying that the first female president should earn the office legitimately instead of failing upward into it.
