New Delhi: Manchester United will face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals after their 5-2 win over Leicester City with interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy. Spurs have earned the spot in the final eight after beating Manchester City 2-1.
Defending champions Liverpool will visit Southampton, who are currently at the bottom of the Premier League points table. The Reds beat Brighton 3-2 last night, while Southampton have come to the draw with the same scorecard reading against Stoke City. Liverpool are the most successful team in this competition, having lifted the trophy ten times.
Arsenal and Crystal Palace will play in a London derby in their final eight games. The Gunners won 3-0 against Preston, while the Eagles pulled off a great 2-1 win over Aston Villa. New Castle beat Chelsea 2-0 and are now set to face Brentford at home, who won against Sheffield in the penalties.

For Spurs, this is a great opportunity to break their trophy drought, having not won a single title since their League Cup triumph in 2008. Facing United in the quarter-finals could be a less daunting task for Tottenham after recently winning 3-0 against them in the Premier League at Old Trafford back in September.
For United, they hope that Ruben Amorim will take over the helm of the club by the quarter-finals. In post-match interaction, while the deal between the current Sporting Portugal manager and United are going on, Van Nistelrooy insisted on his wish to stay in the club in a new setup and would like to help the club regain its former glory.
This is the first occasion that there are no EFL clubs to feature in the League’s quarter-finals in 14 years. The quarter-finals will be played on 17th September with the semi-finals taking place in January 6th and February 3rd. The final of the league being played on March 16th.
