New Delhi: Santiago Bernabeu bid an emotional farewell to club legend Luka Modric and manager Carlo Ancelotti as Kylian Mbappe’s brace helped Real Madrid beat Real Sociedad 2-0 in their final La Liga game of the season. While Ancelotti is set to take charge of the Brazil national team from May 26, the club had confirmed earlier this week that Modric will be leaving Real Madrid after the Club World Cup.
The legendary duo received a home farewell, which fittingly concluded with a win for Real Madrid in their final La Liga game of the season. Mbappe missed a penalty, but scored on the rebound to put Real Madrid ahead in the 38th minute with his 30th goal of the season. He doubled Madrid’s lead in the 83rd minute after smashing home from a brilliant pass from Vinicius Jr, sealing a victory for the hosts. Mbappe became the first Real Madrid player to score 30-plus goals in the La Liga in his debut season for the club.
