New Delhi: Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have been hit with charges from the Football Association after their players got involved in a heated confrontation during their Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The match, which ended in a 1-1 draw, took an ugly turn late on when tempers flared, leading to an incident involving multiple players from both teams.
The issue kicked off in the 88th minute when Forest’s Neco Williams appeared to push Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella off the field, sparking a reaction from players on both sides. As tensions escalated, Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson got involved, with some thinking he had slapped Forest’s Morato during the scuffle. However, after a review by the video assistant referee (VAR), no further action was taken against Jackson for the alleged slap.
Despite this, both Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have been charged by the FA for failing to control their players. In a statement, the FA explained that it was claimed both teams didn’t ensure their players acted properly and refrained from provocative behavior during the heated moments towards the end of the game. The two clubs now have until Thursday to respond to the charges.

Williams for Forest, and Cucurella and Levi Colwill for Chelsea. Chelsea found themselves in more trouble as the match saw six of their players booked overall, triggering an automatic £50,000 fine. This is the second time this season Chelsea have been fined for receiving six or more bookings in a single match.
The incident has drawn attention as yet another example of emotions boiling over in a competitive Premier League match. While no further action will be taken against Jackson, the broader focus remains on the conduct of both teams and their ability to manage their players’ emotions during key moments in the game.
