New Delhi: Legendary American tennis player Andre Agassi is set to visit India in January 2025 to officially flag off the PWR DUPR Indian Tour & League. This initiative promises at bringing competitive nature of the pickleball sport in the Asian country.
The PWR DUPR Indian Tour and League follows the recent introduction of a new rankings structure by Pickleball World Rankings (PWR), along with the launch of the PWR World Tour and PWR World Series.
Agassi, who is a eight-time Grand Slam champion, was known for his magic with the racket on court. He won four Australian Open titles, two US Open titles, and one each at French Open and Wimbledon.
“I’m excited to visit India and bring the excitement of pickleball to its fans. I look forward to the PWR DUPR Indian Tour & League and hope it will be a great success in the country,” Agassi said in a special video message for the fans of Indian sports.
With Andre Agassi leading the charge in January, the PWR DUPR Indian Tour & League is poised to
bring unparalleled excitement and a new wave of enthusiasm for pickleball in India.
Notably, ahead of the PWR DUPR Indian Tour & League, the PWR DUPR India Masters (including
Battle of the League: Stage 1, a one off PWR 700 event will take place in New Delhi from 24th to
27th October 2024.

What is pickleball and how it is played?
Pickleball is a racket sport which is considered to involve features of other racket sports such as badminton, tennis and table tennis. A paddle and a plastic ball with holes are the equipment used in this sport. It can be played in singles as well as doubles. The court isn’t wider as a tennis court and the paddle isn’t smaller as a table tennis racket.
Pickleball is said to be a fast growing sport in the United States over the past few years. The rules of pickleballs are a bit similar to that of table tennis. The rallies can be a lot more enticing and thrill is something that can be a guaranteed feeling when one plays this sport.
