Chennai: In a stunning display of integrity, a cleanliness worker in Chennai has returned a diamond necklace worth Rs 5 lakh (approximately $6,600 USD) to its owner after it was accidentally thrown away with the trash.
Devaraj, a resident of Virugampakkam, inadvertently discarded a diamond necklace with his house garbage bin bag and later it was collected by sanitation worker of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC). But soon after realizing the mistake, Devaraj promptly contacted the garbage collection company, Urbaser Sumeet, the company contracted by the Chennai Corporation for waste management. J Anthonysamy, the driver of the garbage collection vehicle, then inspected garbage bins and successfully located the necklace that was found entangled in a garland inside a waste bin after an intensive search. Later, the cleanliness worker returned the precious necklace to the rightful owner.

Devaraji, the owner, expressed immense gratitude to J Anthonysamy and the Urbaser Sumeet team for their diligence and honesty and he said it was a wedding gift from his mother to his daughter for their upcoming ceremony.
