Chennai police arrest 3 more suspects in BSP leader Armstrong’s murder case

Chennai: The Greater Chennai police have arrested three more suspects, all lawyers in connection with the murder of Bahujan Samaj party’s (BSP) Tamil Nadu state president K Armstrong in Chennai last month. The arrested persons include Malarkodi an AIADMK functionary, Hariharan a TMC functionary, and Sathish of the DMK. The police are in search of Anjalai a BJP functionary. Anjalai is the partner of ‘Arcot’ Suresh, the history-sheeter murdered in 2023. According to police, there has been a money transaction between the accused and the money from Malarkodi used to buy country bombs.

D Selvaraj, a BJP functionary from Thiruvallur district, was also arrested by Chennai police in the Armstrong murder case.

Following the arrest, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday removed Malarkodi Sekar from the primary membership of the party. 

It may be recalled that the key accused in the murder case was shot dead in an encounter last week. the initial police investigation revealed that Arul, a DMK lawyer from Tiruninnavur, was the mastermind behind Armstrong’s murder. Police probed Ponnai Balu’s brother-in-law Arul’s mobile phone communications and bank transactions.

 Three more accused people were arrested in connection with the murder of Tamil Nadu Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief K Armstrong in Chennai earlier this month.
