Chicago-Bound United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing In Dublin

Dublin: A Chicago-bound United Airlines flight from Edinburgh on Tuesday turned around over the Atlantic and diverted to Dublin for an emergency landing after reportedly detecting a technical glitch. A message was passed to the Air Traffic Control (ATC) in Dublin, following which the flight made a safe landing at the airport amidst all safety arrangements.

As per the reports, the pilot of the flight had detected a hydraulic issue, when the flight was hovering over the Atlantic until it reached the South of Iceland.

According to the reports, United Airlines flight number UA 119 departed from Edinburgh to Chicago O’Hare International Airport on Tuesday at around 11.45 am. When the Boeing 757-200 was over the Atlantic, the pilots detected a hydraulic issue, following which they contacted the ATC at Dublin and decided to turn around near Reykjavik.

The aircraft then made an emergency landing almost 4 hours after it departed from Edinburgh Airport. The passengers were evacuated from the flight and the aircraft went under maintenance at Dublin Airport.

A full emergency plan involving airport fire rescue and the Dublin Fire Department was put in place.

Further details regarding the incident were being ascertained.
