Mumbai: In the Hindu calendar, both the Ekadashi dates of the Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha in the month of Vaishakh are considered highly auspicious. Among them, Mohini Ekadashi, which falls during the Shukla Paksha, holds special spiritual significance. On this day, devotees worship Lord Vishnu in his enchanting Mohini avatar (form).
Mohini Ekadashi is believed to be one of Lord Vishnu’s most beloved Ekadashi observances. According to traditional belief, observing this fast with full devotion and resolve can help fulfil one’s heartfelt desires, bring prosperity and happiness, and even lead to moksha (liberation). This year, however, there seems to be some confusion regarding the exact date of the fast. Let’s clarify when Mohini Ekadashi will be observed in 2025.

On the day of Mohini Ekadashi, begin by waking early, bathing, and offering Arghya (water offering) to the Sun God. After that, meditate on Lord Vishnu in his Mohini form and take the vow (sankalp) for the fast.
Place an idol or image of Lord Vishnu on a clean altar or platform, and offer him yellow garments, sandalwood paste, rice grains (Akshat), flowers, Tulsi leaves, incense, a lamp, and Naivedya (food offering). Perform aarti (ritual of light) and read or listen to the Mohini Ekadashi Vrat Katha (the story behind the fast).
Chanting “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya” and reciting the Vishnu Sahasranama (a thousand names of Lord Vishnu) on this day is believed to bring immense spiritual benefit.
