New Delhi: Amid speculations over his comeback to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Conor McGregor has revealed his plans to fight in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) in the future. BKFC is a promotion where McGregor owns a stake. He recently spoke to reporters during a BKFC press conference in Italy where he revealed he intends to fight in the competition.

The former double UFC champion is still under contract with UFC and cannot make the transition to another competition until his current deal expires. McGregor last fought in the UFC when he suffered a defeat against Dustin Poirier back in 2021. The Irish superstar broke his leg during the bout and has not returned to the octagon ever since.

The 36-year-old is expected to make his UFC comeback this year, however, there has been no indication from him of UFC CEO Dana White about his potential return. Amid suspense over his UFC future, McGregor has said he is open to fighting in the BKFC in the future and also revealed three potential opponents that he would like to face in the competition.

“Yes. Yes. The warrior spirit burns strong inside me. For sure. If you think I’m up here giving these speeches and leading these men into battle and I won’t step in there myself, think again. For sure. Conor McGregor will fight in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship – mark my words,” McGregor told reporters in Italy.

The Notorious said he would want to win the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship to be called the world champion of the new company. McGregor also picked three opponents he would want to face in the BKFC, including UFC rival Eddie Alvarez.

“There are many bouts, showcase bouts you could say, Mike Perry. You could say Jeremy Stephens,” said McGregor.

“You could say a rematch against Eddie Alvarez. You could say many matches. But the lightweight title, who is the champion right now, lightweight or welterweight? Let’s see. I’m open. We’ll see when it comes,” he added.

McGregor fought against Alvarez in the UFC in 2016 where he defeated the American star comprehensively in the second round to become the UFC lightweight champion back then. McGregor was expected to make his comeback to the Octagon last year with a fight lined up against former Bellator lightweight world champion Michael Chandler.

However, McGregor has to pull out of the clash weeks before the bout after sustaining a toe injury. While McGregor has returned to full fitness and has been involved in spats with multiple fighters there has been no concrete update on his return to the Octagon.
