Najmul and Co. were not the favourites to win the series against Pakistan when they landed in Rawalpindi. But, the Bangla Tigers dominated the series in all three departments and whitewashed Shan Masood and Co. in the two-match Test series.

Bangladesh won the opening Test of the series by 10 wickets in Rawalpindi and also won the second Test at the same venue by 6 wickets. Overall, this was just their eighth Test victory in overseas. They won two matches each in West Indies, Zimbabwe & Pakistan, and one each in Sri Lanka & New Zealand.

Sri Lanka defeated India by 2-0 in the three-match ODI series and won their first-ever bilateral ODI series since 1997. Gautam Gambhir’s tenure as India’s head coach which started with a dominating series win in the T20Is, ended with a winless run in the ODIs in Sri Lanka. Indian batters struggled to bat against Sri Lankan spin bowlers.

The Men in Blue lost 27 wickets against spin which is the most by any team in a bilateral ODI series (max 3 matches). The first match of the series ended in a tie and Sri Lanka won the second ODI by 32 runs. The hosts also won the third ODI match by 110 runs.

4. India ended their 11-year ICC trophy drought

The Men in Blue ended their 11-year ICC trophy by defeating South Africa by 7 runs in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup. Rohit and Co. remained undefeated throughout the tournament. Not many fans and experts have given India a chance before the start of the 20-team event.

Team India had plenty of problems heading into the T20 World Cup 2024 with Virat and Rohit playing just two T20I matches since the last edition of the tournament. Hardik Pandya also struggled to perform in the IPL 2024 with the bat and ball. But all things came together for Rohit and Co. when the tournament started and they played dominant and aggressive cricket throughout the tournament.
