New Delhi: Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he will continue playing for Saudi club Al-Nassr next season. The 40-year-old finally put an end to speculation about his future after winning his second Nations League trophy with Portugal.

Ronaldo scored his 138th international goal in the second half, bringing Portugal back into the game and forcing the final into penalties after a 2-2 draw. He was then substituted and watched the rest of the match from the sidelines as Portugal converted all five spot kicks against Spain to lift the trophy. The win left the five-time Champions League winner in tears.

After lifting his third trophy with Portugal, Ronaldo made his plans clear, stating he intends to stay with his Saudi Pro League club. When asked directly whether he would remain with Al-Nassr, he responded, “Yes.”

Last week, Ronaldo denied any links with clubs competing in the 32-team FIFA Club World Cup set to begin on June 14 in the United States. He confirmed he had received offers from several clubs but would not be part of the tournament.

Ronaldo has made a mark for himself in the Saudi Pro League since joining from Manchester United in December 2022, scoring 99 goals in 111 appearances. He, for a second straight season, finished as the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League, having scored 25 league goals in the 2024-25 season but Al Nassr finished third in the points table and missed out on a spot in next season’s prestigious AFC Champions League.

Al-Nassr’s director, Fernando Hierro, also recently acknowledged that they were in talks with the star striker about a contract extension, although many teams were also eyeing his signature. Al-Nassr definitely doesn’t want to lose their captain, as he has led the team from the front and will undoubtedly aim to win the league trophy next season.
