New Delhi: Cristiano Ronaldo took centre stage with his strike as he scored the opening goal in the final match of the Saudi Super Cup at the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium in Abha, Saudi Arabia on Saturday. Despite the goal, Al Nassr were humiliated with a 1-4 thrashing from Al Hilal who scripted a great turnaround. Both sides kept it tight since the start of the game and it looked like the game was going into a deadlock with the half-time whistle but a brilliant pass helped Ronaldo open for his side.
It was during the 44th minute of the match as Al Nassr desperately tried to get into the scoresheet. They passed the ball onto each other in quick succession and soon reached near the net where Abdulrahman Ghareeb received the ball and perfectly set it up for Ronaldo who came ahead running in and finally drilling it into the net. Although the path looked hurdled, but the ball cleared its way in.

Al Hilal’s brilliant turnaround
Although Ronaldo’s goal was the highlight of the first half, what followed next was a pure thrashing of Al Nassr. As the game marched into the second half, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic equalled the lead by Al Nassr in the 55th minute. The Ronaldo-led side tried hard to go for another one but Al Hilal’s defense stood out. It was highly interesting to watch them defending and attacking brilliantly, all at the same time.
Aleksander Mitrovic then took the opportunity as he entered the scoresheet by scoring a brace – in the 63rd and 69th minute. With a 3-1 lead, Malcolm added to Al Nassr’s misery with a final and fourth goal for Al Hilal in the 72nd minute to put the game to bed. Although Al Nassr looked to capitalise but it all went in vain. With the third goal of Al Hilal, even skipper Ronaldo gestured that the game was out of their hands now.
