New Delhi: Tottenham Hotspur made a significant bid to capture Marc Guehi, but Crystal Palace turned it down. The 24-year-old England international’s permanent transfer offer was rejected. In the summer, Spurs and other teams are anticipated to make another attempt. In the summer, Newcastle United made four unsuccessful approaches for Guehi, the last of which was valued at up to £65 million with add-ons. At the end of August, Palace head coach Oliver Glasner announced that the defender will be staying with the team.

His Palace contract expires in 2026, and he has 18 months left on it. In the summer of 2021, Guehi paid £18 million to join Palace from Chelsea, and he has since made 134 appearances for the team. He made his England senior squad debut in 2022 and played a crucial role in Gareth Southgate’s team’s 2024 European Championship run, starting all but one of his nation’s games as they advanced to the championship game.

How are things between Guehi and Palace?

The defender has been a talismanic presence at the back for Crystal Palace and was crucial for the Eagles in their recent clash against Manchester United, where he was a rock at the back. It is fair to believe that Palace are not too keen on letting the defender leave, as last summer, bids from top clubs were rejected by the Eagles. This season, Palace have remarkably recovered from a poor start to the campaign and Guehi has had a tremendous influence with his leadership and abilities.

Prior to the 2024–25 season, Guehi was chosen club captain. This season, he has made 28 appearances for Palace across all competitions, scoring twice. Chelsea returned Palace defender Trevoh Chalobah from his loan earlier this month, but Ben Chilwell, who is also on loan from Chelsea, is expected to join Palace pending a medical.

Crystal Palace have reportedly rejected a £70 Million bid for their star defender Marc Guehi, which was coined by their London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
