New Delhi: India’s ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra started a new innings in his life as he tied the knot with Himani Mor in a private ceremony last week. The Olympic double medallist took to his social media accounts on Sunday to share pictures from his dreamy wedding which was kept a secret with no buzz on social media.
The pictures of Neeraj’s wedding left many surprised as his fans had little idea of the Golden Boy tying the knot. Wishes poured in from all corners for the javelin star, who is arguably one of India’s best athletes of all time.
Neeraj’s better half Himani is a former tennis player, who is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Science in sports management and administration from the Isenberg School of Management in the US. As pictures from his wedding continue to go viral on social media, some inside details of Neeraj’s wedding have emerged.
Neeraj-Himani tied the knot in a destination wedding
As per a report in NDTV, Neeraj and Himani exchanged vows in a destination wedding that took place in Himachal Pradesh. The ceremonies and other festivities took place over three days from January 14th to 16th. The wedding was attended by only 30-40 people, including the family members and close friends of the couple.
The report also added that Neeraj and Himani left for a foreign country immediately after their wedding and a reception is planned in India when they return.
Neeraj was recently named the best male javelin thrower of 2024 by a globally renowned American sports magazine – ‘Track and Field News’. The Tokyo Olympics gold medallist won a silver medal for India at the Paris Olympics 2024 last year to become the first Indian athlete to win a gold and a silver medal in back-to-back Olympics.
Neeraj also missed out on titles in Diamond League events in Doha, Lausanne and Brussels and will be hoping to return to his best again in 2025. The Indian javelin star has his sights set on defending his men’s javelin world title at the World Athletics Championships 2025 which is set to take place in Tokyo in September this year.
