New Delhi: Team India all-rounder Shivam Dube was praised for his ‘intelligent’ response after he was asked to choose the best captain between the legendary MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma. Dube has played under Dhoni for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has also played under Rohit for the Indian team.
Dube was part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup 2024 title earlier this year to bring an end to India’s decade-long ICC trophy drought. The all-rounder was selected in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 after his revival at CSK. Dube has undergone an incredible transformation at CSK and has delivered consistently for the five-time champions over the last three seasons.
During his recent appearance on comedian Kapil Sharma’s show on Netflix, Dube was put in a spot when the host asked him to name his favourite captain between Rohit and Dhoni. The likes of Rohit and India’s current T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav were also present on the show.
“When I am playing for Chennai, MS Dhoni is the best, when I am playing for India, Rohit Sharma is the best,” Dube responded.
Rohit had a hilarious reaction to Dube’s response and went on to ask the all-rounder if he had practiced his reply for days before coming on the show.
Shivam Dube ruled out of T20I series against Bangladesh
Dube was recently ruled out of the upcoming T20I series between India and Bangladesh due to a back injury. BCCI confirmed on Saturday that the all-rounder will miss all three matches of the series between the two teams which gets underway on Sunday with the first T20I at the Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior.
Dube has been replaced by Tilak Varma in the Indian squad. India will look to get off to a winning start when they lock horns with Bangladesh in the opener on Sunday. Tilak, who has played 16 T20Is for India so far, has done well in the limited opportunities he has earned in white-ball cricket. The youngster linked up with the Indian squad on Sunday and it remains to be seen if he will get a chance in the playing XI in the 1st T20I.
