New Delhi: England all-rounder Jacob Bethell will have to miss the Champions Trophy with a hamstring injury, captain Jos Buttler has informed after their four-wicket loss to India in Cuttack.
The left-hander scored a fifty and took a wicket in their first ODI defeat to India in Nagpur but had to skip the second game in Cuttack. England had to call up batter Tom Banton as cover for the all-rounder.
“I’m pretty sure he’s been ruled out of the Champions Trophy, to be honest,” Buttler said after their loss on Sunday.
“So, that’s really disappointing for him. Obviously, he played nicely the other day and has been one of the really exciting players. So, it’s a shame that the injury is going to rule him out.”
