New Delhi: A video circulating widely on social media showed US President Joe Biden mistakenly boarding an empty plane at Andrews Air Force Base. The aircraft, which had just transported freed American prisoners, was vacant by the time Biden arrived, leading to confusion among observers.
The incident took place during a ceremony to celebrate the return of prisoners released by Russia. As the footage spread online, it sparked a flurry of reactions, with many questioning the President’s actions.
One user on X commented, “Where is Joe Biden going? The passengers on this plane have already disembarked.” Check out the video below.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation regarding whether the plane was empty when Joe Biden boarded it or the primary reason for the incident.
For the unversed, the United States (the US) and Russia completed a 24-person prisoner swap on August 1, the largest in post-Soviet history, with Moscow releasing Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and fellow American Paul Whelan in a multinational deal that set some two dozen people free, according to officials in Turkey, where the exchange took place.
Three freed Americans arrived at an Air Force Base outside Washington late at night to an emotional welcome from their families, President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris.
