Djokovic beats Alcaraz to win maiden Olympic gold, 5th player to complete career golden Slam

New Delhi: Novak Djokovic defeated Carlos Alcaraz 7-6, 7-6 to win the tennis men’s singles gold medal at Roland Garros on Sunday.

The top seed prevailed in two intensely fought sets, winning both of them in tie breakers to beat the second seeded Spaniard.

Alcaraz had beaten Djkovic in the French Open final at Roland Garros and then in the Wimbledon final.

But on Sunday, Djokovic was determined, which enabled him to break down Alacaraz in the two tie breaks and claim his maiden Olympic gold medal.

He is only the fifth player to complete a golden career Slam after Steffi Graff, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams.
