New Delhi: Explosive Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Travis Head will not be available for selection for their IPL 2025 game against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday.
SRH head coach Daniel Vettori disclosed that Head has contracted Covid-19 as a result of which his return to India for the remainder of the tournament has been delayed.
It was not immediately clear where and how the left hander contracted the virus though Vettori said Head will land in India on Monay morning and will undergone a medical check-up within the team.
“Travis is coming in tomorrow morning, he was delayed. He actually had COVID, so he couldn’t travel, so he’ll get in tomorrow morning and we’ll assess how he is after that,” Vettori said in a pre-match press conference on Sunday.
Head and SRH skipper Pat Cummins left India for their home in Australia once IPL 2025 got temporarily suspended due to rising cross-border military tensions between India and Pakistan.
After the announcement of ceasefire, the tournament resumed on May 17 but there was not much information on Head and Cummins’ return to India as they are in the squad for AUstralia’s World Test Championship final from June 11.
SRH have now confirmed that both will join the team for their remaining games as they are already out of play-off contention and as their last game is on May 25, they will get enough time to prepare for the WTC final.
SRH’s last three league stage matches are against LSG, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders.
