Ekadashi fasts in Chaitra [2025]: When and how to observe for maximum blessings

Mumbai: The month of Chaitra holds immense significance in Hinduism, marking the beginning of the Hindu New Year on the Pratipada Tithi of the Shukla Paksha. According to religious beliefs, Lord Brahma created the universe on this day, making the festivals and rituals observed during this month even more auspicious. Among these, Ekadashi, which occurs twice a month, holds special spiritual value as it is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe. It is also believed to be an auspicious day to seek the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth.

As Chaitra is considered a sacred month, devotees observe fasts on both Ekadashis that fall during this period. These include Papmochani Ekadashi and Kamada Ekadashi, each carrying its own religious importance. Here are the key dates and details for Chaitra Ekadashi in 2025.

Devotees observing the Kamada Ekadashi fast can break it on 9th April between 6:02 AM and 8:34 AM. During this time, prayers are offered to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi for blessings, prosperity, and spiritual upliftment.

Both Ekadashi fasts are considered highly meritorious, believed to wash away sins and bring peace and prosperity to devotees. Observing these fasts with devotion and proper rituals is said to help individuals progress spiritually and fulfil their desires.
