Euro 2024 stats: Ronaldo disappoints, Modric makes a new record, and more as group stage ends

New Delhi: UEFA Euro 2024 has been a monumental affair in regards to breaking records and setting new bars. From absurd and unfortunate instances to out-of-the-world performances have made it to history this time around. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku have found it difficult to put the ball inside the opposition net, with Georgia causing a major upset in the last match of the group stages. Belgium and Ukraine collided in a lacklustre fixture that saw the Red Devils qualify for the Round of 16 while the Ukrainians are on their way home.

Ukraine got disqualified even though they had four points, similar to the other two teams in the group but Goal Difference and Fair Play Points didn’t help the brave Ukrainians clinch the qualification spot. Romania topped the group, while Belgium barely secured the second spot.

New records were made in the group stages, with Luka Modric becoming the oldest goal-scorer in the European Championships’ history. Let’s take a look at the statistics after the end of the group stage fixtures.
