Endrick made a memorable home debut for Real Madrid, scoring against Real Valladolid and showcasing the promise that has captivated fans and pundits alike. Meanwhile, in Germany, veteran Thomas Muller etched his name into Bayern Munich’s history books by setting a new club record for league appearances. The weekend also saw Bradley Barcola scoring twice for PSG. With these remarkable feats and exciting matches, let’s delve into the key highlights and significant events from across Europe’s top leagues.

La Liga

In La Liga, Barcelona remains perfect after two games to begin their La Liga season thanks to a 2-1 win against Athletic Bilbao at Valencia. Lamine Yamal opened the scoring line for Barca before Robert Lewandowski smashed home a rebound game-winning goal.

In the 24th minute, the teenage striker from Barcelona scored with a curving shot that brought to mind some of Lionel Messi’s most iconic plays. Yamal managed a deflected ball, then took two touches to skirt along the edge of the box before he found the angle for a left-footed shot. After deflecting off Athletic player Íñigo Lekue, the ball found the net.

In another match between Real Madrid and Real Valladolid, the Spanish champions beat Valladolid 3-0 in La Liga on Sunday. Kylian Mbappe ended his Santiago Bernabeu debut without a goal, while young prodigy Endrick scored on his debut, helping his side secure the first win in the La Liga season. Federico Valverde broke the deadlock for Los Blancos before Brahim  Diaz doubled their lead with a lobbed finish late on.  

Los Blancos will travel to Las Palmas on Thursday night in an attempt to improve on the four points they have already racked up in their first two La Liga championship defence games.

Bundesliga

In the Bundesliga, the match between Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg saw the veteran German player Thomas Muller setting a new club record. He came on as a substitute in the second half of their 3-2 win against Wolfsburg, making his 474th league appearance for the club. Muller played a crucial role in Bayern’s comeback, contributing to an own goal that levelled the score and assisting in Serge Gnabry’s late winner.

Previously, Muller shared the club record of 473 appearances with legendary goalkeeper Sepp Maier. Muller, who retired from international football after the European Championship, joined Bayern in 2000 at the tender age of 10. He made his Bundesliga debut under coach Jürgen Klinsmann in a 2-2 draw against Hamburger SV during the 2008-09 season. Notably, Muller also holds the record for the most Bundesliga titles, with an impressive 12 championships to his name.

In another match of Borussia Dortmund, a second-half double from Jamie Bynoe-Gittens helped in earning a 2-0 home win over Eintracht Frankfurt in their first season game. Dortmund, the side that finished fifth last season, broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute after struggling to find their rhythm against a fierce Frankfurt side that contained their opponents with high pressing.  

After cutting inside the box from the right, Bynoe-Gittens scored a fantastic goal from a tight angle that flew into the top far corner. Frankfurt nearly came to a close equaliser, but their dreams of securing a draw were scuppered when Bynoe-Gittens scored his second goal in stoppage time following a swift counterattack, earning Nuri Sahin, the new Dortmund coach, his first three points in charge.

Serie A

In Serie A, Parma produced a stunning upset, defeating Milan 2-1 in their Serie A clash. Dennis Man scored an early goal for Parma, which gave them a shock lead. Milan managed to equalise through Christian Pulisic, but Parma regained the advantage with a late goal from Matteo Cancellieri. This defeat extended Paulo Fonseca’s winless streak as Milan’s coach. Milan have won just one of their last 11 matches in all competitions. 

Meanwhile, Inter secured their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Lecce. Matteo Darmian scored an early goal for Inter, and Hakan Calhanoglu converted a penalty later in the game to seal the win. Inter’s victory temporarily placed them at the top of the Serie A table.

Ligue 1

In Ligue 1, PSG hammered Montpellier 6-0 in their first home game of the season, with Bradley Barcola scoring twice. PSG dominated the match from start to finish, extending their winning streak to two games after a 4-1 win over Le Havre in the opening round.

Barcola opened the scoring early in the fourth minute with a solo run down the left flank. Marco Asensio doubled PSG’s lead with a well-placed shot after a brilliant team move. Barcola scored his second goal in the second half, tapping in a pass from Ousmane Dembele. Achraf Hakimi added another goal with a powerful shot from a long-range cross. PSG’s impressive performance showcased their dominance in the league.

In another match, Monaco beat Lyon by a scoreline of 2-0. The goals came from the young guns Eliesse Ben Seghir and Lamine Camara, who were later sent off to the bench. The win was Monaco’s second straight league win, while Lyon remained without a goal after two defeats. The frustration of Fans after another loss was clear as boos echoed through the Paris Olympique stadium at the final whistle.
