Ex-Aussie cricketers back Yashasvi Jaiswal after Rohit’s angry reaction to drop catch

New Delhi: Former Australia cricketers Mike Hussey and Darren Lehmann sympathized with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal after he dropped three catches on Day 4 of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Jaiswal couldn’t hold onto a simple catch of well-set batter Marnus Labuschagne at slips in the 40th over. Akash Deep bowled a brilliant delivery and Labuschagne looked to play a drive but only managed to get a thick edge of the bat, Jaiswal at slip failed to take the catch. Australian commentators Lehman and Hussey were unhappy with the reaction of Indian captain who was also standing at slip.

Lehmanm on ABC Sport said that Rishabh Pant did well to give Yashasvi a pat on the back but what the poor kid doesn’t need is the captain Rohit and Kohli throwing arms in the air.

While Hussey on Fox Cricket said that He didn’t like the reaction of the Indian captain. The former Australian cricketer further added he appreciate that Rohit is emotional and desperately wants wickets but he’s the one who has to send the message of calm and support.

“No-one means to drop a catch. He’s gonna feel bad enough as it is for putting a catch down, especially someone like Marnus Labuschagne, it happens quickly, it’s in, it’s out. You don’t need to see that as a young player” Hussey added.

Boland, Lyon frustrate India

The Men in Blue were looking to bundle Australia out in the second innings after Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj removed Australian middle order cheaply but a 55-run partnership  for the last wicket between Scott Boland and Nathan Lyon frustrated Indian players. Rohit and Co. had no answers to the 10th wicket partnership which helped Australia to take 300+ runs lead in the second innings.

The Indian captain was not able to hide his emotions as he punched in the air in anger after Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped a catch.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
