Ex-Pakistan player accuses PCB of fooling fans after first Test defeat vs England

New Delhi: Former Pakistan player Basit Ali has accused the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for making a fool of their fans after a embarrassing defeat in the first Test against England in Multan. England thrashed Pakistan by an innings and 47 runs in the first Test match at Multan despite the hosts scoring a massive 556 runs in the first innings.

After this result, Pakistan became the first team in the history of the game to lose a Test by an innings even after scoring 5oo-plus runs. After their defeat, Basit Ali accused the entire board of spreading lies and favouritism. The team faced a lot of criticism from their fans after the heavy loss. Reports even started circulating on social media about skipper Shan Masood’s exit as the Pakistan team captain.

What Basit Ali said

“These foreign coaches, management are making a fool of us. Back-biting is being openly done in this current system. This person did this, this person did that. No one comes here on the basis of merit. There is too much of favouritism and the hurtful thing is the spread of lies. Speak lies and get your work done,” Basit said.

Further speaking ahead, he termed the defeat ‘embarrassing’ and said that Pakistan Cricket Board have closed their eyes for everything.

“Sharmnaak shikast (embarrassing defeat). Pakistan Cricket board have closed their eyes. Let it happen, whatever is happening. Bas Champions Trophy ho jaye Pakistan me. First, uplift and get your cricket better,” he added.

The Pakistan team is now 11 consecutive Tests at home without a victory, with their last one coming in February 2021 against South Africa. Both the side lock horns in the second game of the three-match Test series in Multan from October 15, Tuesday. The third and final Test will be played in Rawalpindi from October 24.
