Having made its debut in 1990 with a whimsical “thieves’ market” décor, Chor Bizarre has long been a custodian of authentic Indian fare, particularly its famed Kashmiri Wazwan. Following its successful relaunch, the restaurant has delighted patrons with flavourful pop-ups celebrating culinary treasures from Mangalore, Ladakh, Odisha, Purani Dilli, and more. This summer, it turns the spotlight onto the king of fruits—mango.
Mango mania in New Delhi
The specially curated mango festival menu offers an impressive spread of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The Kairi Paneer Tikka, a blend of tender cottage cheese and tangy raw mango, and the Ambi Bharwan Tandoori Aloo, stuffed with peas and mango, set the tone for an exhilarating culinary journey. Among the non-veg options, the Ambi Thecha Mahi Tikka (sole fish marinated in fiery green chilli and raw mango) and the succulent Aamras Murgh Tikka stole hearts with their bold and balanced flavours.
The snacks were an absolute hit. The Kairi Paneer Tikka and Ambi Bharwan Tandoori Aloo delivered a perfect tangy twist, while the Ambi Thecha Mahi Tikka and Aamras Murgh Tikka stood out for their bold and smoky notes. The mango lassi—light, creamy, and clarified to perfection—that truly stole the show. Smooth and refreshing, it was a beverage experience in itself. Another standout was the Mango Picante mocktail (sans liquor), which delivered a sophisticated punch of spice and sweetness, making it an instant favourite.
The main course lived up to expectations with dishes like Kairi Murgh Handi, Ambi Pudina Paneer Curry, and aamchi chicken, each packed with deep, balanced flavours. The mango coconut rice was a delightful surprise, pairing beautifully with thepla and fish-kheema options. Every dish brought out mango’s magic without overpowering the traditional flavours.
