New Delhi: The teaser of the highly-awaited “F1”, a Joseph Kosinski directorial starring Brad Pitt, was recently launched and has opened to widespread acclaim for its adrenaline-fuelled setting amidst the backdrop of Formula 1, also one of the creators of the film. Collaborating with F1’s governing body “Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the film is set for a Summer 2025 release and is currently in the principal photography stages.
The sports action drama is helmed by “Top Gun: Maverick” fame Kosinski and is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Pitt himself, and seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, among others. The film’s plot revolves around Pitt as former Formula 1 driver Sonny Hayes, who comes out of retirement to mentor rookie prodigy Joshua Pearce (played by Damson Idris) – at the fictional Apex Grand Prix (APXGP) team.
In the teaser, Pitt can be seen mentoring Idris and driving the speeding vehicle for himself against the backdrop of Formula 1 where he is a part of the Apex Grand Prix (APXGP) team, whose principal Ruben (Javier Bardem) also seems to have a crucial role. The female lead is Better Call Saul fame Kerry Condon who plays Kate and can be seen in the teaser as a part of Pitt’s team.
The highly notable element is for sure the Queen band’s chartbuster – “We Will Rock You,” which plays along with cars racing on the tracks, adding a distinctive vibe altogether.

It is highly noteworthy that the filming of the movie has taken place at actual Grand Prix weekends including last weekend’s F1 event British Grand Prix.
Release date, additional cast
The film was long-untitled and recently got its name as the makers – Formula 1 and Apple Original Films announced it on July 5, the teaser trailer of which was released right before the 2024 British Grand Prix on July 7. The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and Apple Original Films and is set to be distributed in theatres and in IMAX internationally on June 25, 2025, and in North America on June 27, 2025.
It is going to be a treat for sure for Hollywood enthusiasts as Brad Pitt in such a film with such a director promises to be nothing short of a ride of a lifetime. The cast also includes Shia Wigham, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo in key roles and additionally, Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz Jr., Sergio Pérez, Benoit Treluyer, and the rest of the F1 drivers and team members will appear as themselves.
