Preston 0-3 Aston Villa
Aston Villa defeated Preston North End 3-0 in their quarterfinal match at Deepdale, thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford, who scored his debut goals for the Premier League team. On Sunday, the Championship team did a good job of keeping Unai Emery’s team scoreless in the first half before Villa finally got on the scoreboard after 58 minutes when the on-loan Manchester United forward converted a feed from Lucas Digne.
Five minutes later, when Andrew Hughes had removed Morgan Rogers from the game, he added an easy second from the penalty spot. The outstanding Jacob Ramsey surged at the home defenders before hammering the finish into the net for the game-winning third on 71 minutes, with Preston visibly faltering in their first FA Cup quarterfinal appearance in 60 years. It keeps Villa in the running to win a major trophy for the first time since Brian Little’s team overcame Leeds United 3-0 at the old Wembley in the League Cup in 1996.
Nottingham Forest was matched with the winner of Bournemouth vs. Manchester City in the semi-final draw, which gave Villa a game with Crystal Palace at Wembley on the weekend of April 26–27.

City overcame a deficit to defeat Bournemouth 2-1 and guarantee their yearly trip to the FA Cup semifinals, where Nottingham Forest will be waiting. Guardiola’s team had a rough start, as they barely created any chances as compared to the home side. In the 14th minute, Haaland had a fantastic chance to take the lead, but Kepa saved a poor penalty. Seven minutes later, the Cherries took the lead thanks to a clever move. Evanilson was there to sneak in the game-winning goal after Kluivert assisted Brooks’ deep pass towards goal. Within four minutes of the second half, City had tied the score.
Haaland equalised after O’Reilly, who had been brought on at halftime, put the ball on a plate. Shortly after, the visitors’ number nine hobbled out with an injury, but Marmoush beat Kepa from another O’Reilly lay-off to seal the victory in the 63rd minute. While Bournemouth continues to wait to make it to the final four for the first time in their history, City has advanced to the semi-finals for the seventh consecutive year.
