New Delhi: Star India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah dismissed the recent reports about his fitness. As per the media reports, he is advised bed rest after sustaining the back injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He got injured during the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney and decided not to bowl in the match from Day 2 onwards. After the end of the series, there was big uncertainty about his participation in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to begin on February 19.
According to a Times of India report, the 31-year-old was advised bed rest until the swelling on his back subsides but Bumrah declined the report by reacting to a tweet that claimed the same and wrote “I know fake news is easy to spread but this made me laugh. Sources unreliable”.
The content aggregator deleted the original tweet after Bumrah’s reaction with a quote tweet. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to release an official statement on Bumrah’s injury, but it was reported that he is expected to visit the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for further assessments. His injury concerns also forced India to delay their plans to announce a 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy by a week.
