New Delhi: Barcelona have officially been crowned champions of the La Liga 2024/25 season after they defeated their cross-city rivals Espanyol 2-0. With this win, they also completed their historic domestic treble that includes the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
Under the guidance of German manager Hansi Flick, the Blaugrana have been consistent throughout the season, delivering tactical brilliance. They fell short of a quadruple as they lost the Champions League semi-finals 7-6 on aggregate in the two-leg tie against Inter Milan.
Former Barca player Lionel Messi sent a heartfelt message after they claimed the trophy. Catalan players and coaching staff were elated after securing the La Liga title, and as the club shared glimpses of it on their official Instagram handle, Messi’s reaction stole the limelight.
The all-time top scorer of Barcelona wrote “Congratulations” on their recent achievement. Not just him, his close friend and former teammate, Luis Suarez, also reacted to the same post and dropped a heart-eye emoji in the comments section. Messi didn’t just react in the comment box; he also shared the same on his story with ‘Felicidades’.

Both Messi and Suarez currently play for Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami, but they shared the dressing room at Camp Nou from 2014 to 2020. During their six seasons at Barca, they helped the club clinch four La Ligas, as many Copa del Reys, two Spanish Super Cups, one Champions League title, a Club World Cup, and a UEFA Super Cup. They reunited at Inter Miami again in 2024.
