New Delhi: In what comes as a major boost for Team India ahead of the fourth T20I match against England, hard-hitting batter Rinku Singh has been declared fit and is expected to participate in the crucial encounter. The series currently poised at 2-1 in India’s favour will witness the fourth match on Friday at the MCA stadium in Pune followed by the fifth and last match on Sunday at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
Rinku, who did not get an opportunity to bat in the series opener at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and missed the next two matches in Chennai and Rajkot due to a back spasm, is expected to play a pivotal role for India in the Pune T20I. The fierce batter batted in the nets for a while on Wednesday evening as confirmed by team’s assistant coach, Ryan Ten Doeschate.
“Rinku is fit. He played the first game, hurt himself and missed the next two. But I would imagine Rinku comes back in as soon as he’s proper fit. He batted the other night and I think he’ll be ready to go tomorrow,” Ten Doeschate said during the pre-match press conference.
Rinku Singh to replace Dhruv Jurel?
Dhruv Jurel was brought into the playing XI for the second and third T20I match by head coach Gautam Gambhir but he failed to impress the selectors. Jurel batted on the fifth position in the second encounter in Chennai while he was pushed two places down to seventh spot in the third match in Rajkot. In both the matches, Jurel could only muster 6 runs and it is expected that Rinku will take his place in the upcoming match.
Rest of the squad in Team India seems to be irreplaceable as the likes of Tilak Verma, Abhishek Sharma among others have looked decent in the series and are part of the hardcore T20 setup possessed by the Indian team. Not in the finest of touch, Rinku would be hoping to give it his best shot in the fourth match against the English side.
